POCO, known for its adept rebranding strategy, has recently introduced the POCO X6 and X6 Pro, marking yet another chapter in its legacy of transforming Xiaomi devices into fresh, innovative smartphones. The devices share a plethora of features, including a 1.5K 120Hz OLED screen, optical in-display fingerprint sensors, 67W wired charging with a bundled charger, and an IP54 rating.

POCO X6 Pro: Elevating the Pro Experience

The Pro variant, a rebranded and reskinned version of the China-only Redmi K70E, distinguishes itself with the powerful Dimensity 8300 Ultra chip, featuring newer CPU cores and on-device generative AI support. With advancements in Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6, the X6 Pro stands out, offering 8GB to 12GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery, and a versatile 64MP+8MP+2MP camera system. While the phone exhibits mid-tier trappings, the sturdy build, coupled with Gorilla Glass 5 protection, instills confidence in durability.

The inclusion of HyperOS with POCO Launcher, albeit with some MIUI elements, adds a distinctive touch to the software. However, concerns arise over the preloaded bloatware and notifications from the GetApps store. The standard POCO X6 shares similarities with the Redmi Note 13 Pro, boasting a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, a substantial 5,100mAh battery, and generous 12GB of RAM with a base storage of 256GB. Noteworthy is the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack port, catering to audiophiles and users preferring an aux cable. The phone features a mid-tier 64MP+8MP+2MP triple rear camera system, a 16MP selfie camera, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster.

Although the POCO X6 ships with MIUI 14, a promised update to HyperOS adds an extra layer of appeal, especially for enthusiasts. Pricing for the POCO X6 starts at $249, with an impressive $319 for the 12GB/512GB model. Early bird offers further sweeten the deal, making this smartphone an enticing option for those seeking a budget-friendly yet feature-packed device.

A Budget-Friendly Revolution

While the POCO X6 and X6 Pro may not revolutionize the smartphone industry, their strategic rebranding and competitive features make them commendable additions to POCO's lineup. The pricing below $400, especially for the 512GB models, positions these smartphones as strong contenders in the budget-friendly segment. As POCO aims for availability in regions like Europe, South East Asia, and the UK, the early pricing adds an extra incentive for prospective buyers. As with any device, individual preferences and priorities will dictate the ultimate choice, but POCO's latest offerings certainly merit a closer look.
