Qualcomm has unveiled its latest innovation, the Snapdragon Dev Kit, marking a significant milestone as the first desktop to feature the powerful Snapdragon X Elite chipset. This mini-PC, set to be available next month for under $900, promises to deliver unprecedented performance and versatility. The Snapdragon X Elite chipset, designated as model X1E-00-1DE, is poised to revolutionize the computing experience with its advanced CPU, GPU, and NPU specifications, all packed into a compact form factor.

In addition to the Snapdragon Dev Kit, Qualcomm has announced over a dozen Snapdragon X-powered 2-in-1 devices and laptops, including notable entries like the Galaxy Book4 Edge, Surface Laptop 7, Surface Pro 11, and two new offerings from HP. These devices collectively highlight the growing adoption and versatility of Snapdragon technology in the consumer electronics market.

The Snapdragon Dev Kit stands out as a cost-effective option for developers, priced at $899.99, making it more affordable than many of its laptop counterparts. It is positioned as the spiritual successor to the Windows Dev Kit 2023, which was powered by the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and launched at $599 in October 2022. The new Dev Kit, however, offers significantly enhanced performance capabilities.

Key Features and Specifications:

  • Chipset: Snapdragon X Elite (model X1E-00-1DE)
  • Ports: 1x 3.5 mm jack, 1x HDMI, 1x RJ45 Ethernet, 2x USB 3.2 Type-A, 3x USB Type-C (USB 4)
