Redefining Sampling through Concatenative Techniques and Machine Learning

Coalescence takes the art of sampling to new heights by organizing samples into clusters based on chosen spectral features. The device leverages concatenative sampling, a technique that involves assembling a sound from a collection of smaller sound units, and augments it with the power of a neural network. The result is a musical alchemy that transforms raw audio snippets into a rich tapestry of organized sound.

The heart of Coalescence lies in its neural network, specifically a Self-Organizing Map (SOM). This sophisticated algorithm analyzes and processes multiple samples—up to 2000—and feeds slices of these samples into the SOM. The SOM then orchestrates these slices into a visually represented 2D map of cells, each depicted as circles. This unique visualization allows users to interact with and explore the organized sonic landscape.

Three Distinct Playback Modes: Point, Rings, and Paths

Coalescence introduces three distinct playback modes—Point, Rings, and Paths—that add an extra layer of dynamism to the creative process.
