Panasonic has recently introduced the latest addition to its bridge camera lineup, the Lumix FZ82D. This modernized version of the FZ82 comes with a host of upgrades that make it a compelling choice for photography enthusiasts.

Among the key features are a powerful 60x optical zoom lens, a USB-C connection, a significantly improved electronic viewfinder, and a higher-resolution display. Positioned as the successor to the Lumix FZ82, the FZ82D retains many of the core components that made its predecessor popular. It continues to use an 18 MP CMOS sensor in a 1/2.3 inch format, paired with a zoom lens that offers a 35 mm equivalent focal length range of 20 - 1,200 mm and a maximum aperture of f/2.8 - f/5.9. Despite the sensor being smaller than those found in many current smartphones, the 60x zoom capability far surpasses what smartphone cameras can achieve without significant quality loss.

  1. 60x Optical Zoom: The standout feature of the Lumix FZ82D, this allows for incredibly detailed long-distance shots, something smartphones cannot match without compromising image quality.
  2. USB-C Connectivity: In line with the EU’s upcoming mandate for universal charging ports, the inclusion of USB-C ensures future compatibility and convenience for users.
  3. Enhanced Electronic Viewfinder: The new electronic viewfinder is larger and boasts a resolution of 2.36 million pixels, offering photographers a clearer and more detailed preview of their shots.
  4. Upgraded Display: The 3-inch touchscreen display has been improved to 1.84 million pixels from the previous 1.04 million, providing sharper and more vibrant image previews and menu navigation.
  5. High-Speed Shooting and 4K Video: The camera can capture up to ten photos per second in full resolution and record 4K videos at 30 frames per second, ensuring high-quality output for both stills and video.
  6. Zoom Compose Assist: This handy feature temporarily zooms out to help users locate and frame their subjects more easily when fully zoomed in.
  7. Macro Mode: Enables shooting of objects as close as 1 cm from the lens, perfect for capturing detailed macro shots.

COMPETITIVE PRICING AND AVAILABILITY. In the United States, the Panasonic Lumix FZ82D will be marketed as the Lumix FZ80D, priced at $479.99. This positions it competitively within the bridge camera segment, offering advanced features at an accessible price point.
