The holiday season has always been synonymous with gifts and surprises, and this year is no exception for music producers and sound enthusiasts. UVI has unwrapped a special present for the music community – the UVI Noctua, a collaborative creation with the talented sound designer and YouTuber, Venus Theory. This free cinematic virtual synth instrument is designed for both UVI Falcon 3 and the UVI Player, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of users.

UVI Noctua: A Cinematic Journey

Noctua stands out as a unique addition to UVI's impressive lineup, boasting a multi-layer engine fueled by meticulously crafted samples from Venus Theory. This instrument takes users on an auditory journey through inspiring soundscapes and evocative cinematic worlds, crafted using a combination of hardware synths and boutique effects.

The heart of Noctua lies in its flexible 2+1 layer architecture, consisting of three layers, each offering distinctive sonic elements. These layers draw from three categories: effects box (effected, granularized sounds), analog (recordings from analog synths + pedals), and EMF (electronic-magnetic field recordings).

Layers and Features: Beyond the Basics

Noctua challenges the notion that free instruments must be stripped-down, offering a feature-rich experience comparable to commercial UVI libraries. Each layer is equipped with a morphable sub-oscillator, delivering a rich and powerful low-end, ensuring that the instrument maintains a high standard of quality.

Microtonal sequencers with unique randomization and probability options, layer-specific filtering, modulation capabilities, and a selection of one-knob FX chains add depth and versatility to the instrument. Noctua also includes per-layer reverb and delay send effects, along with essential master bus processing tools such as a compressor, overdrive, EQ, and maximizer.

Presets and Accessibility: The Perfect Blend

UVI sweetens the deal by bundling Noctua with 100 presets crafted by Venus Theory and the in-house sound design team. These presets showcase the instrument's capability to produce exceptional and elaborate sound design, making it an ideal choice for those seeking cinematic sounds.

While Noctua is a free download, there is a small catch – users need a free iLok software account for activation. However, the additional step is a minor inconvenience compared to the sonic wonders that await.

Availability and Compatibility: Plug in and Play

UVI Noctua is available for download now, requiring either UVI Falcon 3 or the free UVI Player. The instrument seamlessly integrates into music production workflows, functioning as a 64-bit VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin on both macOS and Windows platforms.
